David Brooke QC and Katy Rafter last week secured the conviction of Wakkas Butt, the self-styled “Boss of Beeston” and four others for their part in a drive-by shooting and other gang-related activity in the Beeston area of Leeds. Mr Butt, who drove a car with the registration LS11 BOS, was sentenced by HHJ Bayliss QC to a 21 year custodial sentence, plus a 5 year extended licence period.
The case involved presentation of evidence mobile phone and vehicle movements, and CCTV, to demostrate to the jury that it was Mr Butt and the other members of his gang who were responsible for the offence.
