A drug dealer who used sophisticated technology to sell various illicit substances, including the powerful synthetic opioid fentanyl, on the dark web was jailed for more than 13 years. Fentanyl is 100 times more potent than heroin. The case was prosecuted by Rupert Doswell.
Ross Brennan and Aarron Gledhill imported and sold Class A drugs over the internet to customers around the world, using a copy of “Chemistry for Dummies” to mix their product. Brennan was aware that some of his customers had died but continued his online sales in spite of this.
Customers paid the conspirators in the online currency, Bitcoin. Brennan profited by between £450,000 and £1.5 million during the period of the conspiracy. During the course of his offending, in one chat conversation with his conspirator, Brennan boasted, “I know there are bodies out there on me, if u do thousands n thousands n thousands, you can’t help but f**k up one time maybe”.
