The prosecution case was that Mr Barradell’s client was the organiser behind a gangland ‘hit’ on a drug rival. It was alleged that he sent two other men to the home of his rival to exact an old drug debt.
The trial took place over 5 weeks at Sheffield Crown Court.
The jury found Mr Barradell’s client not guilty of any involvement in the offence but did convict one of the two men who carried out the killing.
The second offender managed to flee the jurisdiction on the night of the murder. He is still wanted by the police. His girlfriend was convicted of assisting him to flee the country.
