Following a hearing spanning 7 days, a Police Misconduct Panel found PC Liam Madden to have subjected two female police officers to controlling and abusive behaviour whilst in relationships with them. The proven abusive behaviour included the following:
- Telling Miss A the following or similar: ‘I’m going to crash this car with you in it and leave you there’;
- Verbally abusing Miss A and demanding she provide evidence to prove she was not messaging other men;
- Attending at Miss A’s home, on and off duty, when he knew she did not want him there;
- Preventing Miss A from leaving his home by denying her access to the keys;
- Taking issue with Miss B’s interactions with men, accusing her of liking or being with other men;
- Telling Miss B that she was not normal;
- Attending at Miss B’s home uninvited in a police vehicle whilst on duty;
- Telling Miss B that he had “things on her” if she chose to speak out about the Officer.
The Panel dismissed the officer without notice, meaning he will be automatically placed on the College of Policing barred list.
