On 28 February 2019 Ibrahim Mahetar was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16.5 years for the murder of his brother. Nicholas Campbell QC and Christine Egerton prosecuted the trial over seven days, with the jury reaching a verdict of guilty in under 4 hours. Mr Mahetar stabbed his brother with a tool that he described as being “like a spark plug cleaner”. That weapon was never recovered.
