Earlier this month, Jess Butterell appeared in the Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, to appeal the sentence of her client received in Sheffield in November 2023.
Jess was successful in achieving a four month reduction to the thirty-two month sentence her client had received. The case concerned a total of seven offences relating to three Complainants over three different dates. Jess advanced grounds that the racial uplift applied was manifestly excessive, and totality had not been adequately taken into account.
Following Jess advancing successful arguments, her client’s sentence was reduced by four months accordingly.’
