Harriet Eglington speaks at Durham University Women in Law Event

06 December 2024

Harriet was invited to speak at an event hosted by a Women in Law Society at Durham University on 5th December 2024.

The event consisted of myth-busting a number of perceptions about life, particularly as a female barrister at the Bar.

The event covered issues of diversity, juggling family responsibilities in a career at the Bar, misogyny and discrimination, international students, earning prospects, autonomy over your career, academic histories and whether you need to have barrister connections.

It was then followed by questions from the floor, addressing issues such as coming from a non-law background, and how to approach a pupillage application form.

It was a pleasure to be invited to speak at the event and meet female barristers from other Circuits and areas of law, as well as engage with prospective barristers.
