Rupert Doswell K.C. together with Conor Quinn obtained a not guilty verdict in respect of an allegation of Murder, arising from the unlawful killing of Ian Staves following a planned burglary of his home address. The defendant accepted his part in a conspiracy to burgle but denied having any intention to cause really serious harm. The prosecution case was that the defendant’s assertion that this was a burglary gone wrong was false and was being used to seek to cover up the fact that this was a planned attack upon Mr Staves himself. The jury disagreed, preferring the defence case, and accordingly acquitted the defendant of Murder.
