Deborah Smithies and Daniel Ingham prosecute 8 defendants for a conspiracy to supply drugs into HMP Northumberland as well as the surrounding area.
The case, named Operation Boise, arose out of a phone which was found in the cell of Shaun Mason, a prisoner at HMP Northumberland in August 2022. When that phone was analysed, it showed that there was a conspiracy to supply contraband, such as drugs and mobile phones into HMP Northumberland. This included on one occasion via HMP Durham. The phone also showed a wider conspiracy to supply drugs outside of prison.
