Before commencing pupillage, Jamie worked for LPC Law as a County Court advocate. He appeared in small claims trials, mortgage and landlord-tenant hearings, insolvency matters, infant approvals, interim applications, and dispute resolution hearings. He also drafted skeleton arguments for clients.
He was also a caseworker for Leeds Free Legal Representation, assisting pro bono clients in the Employment and Social Security Tribunals. He appeared in multi-day hearings concerning discrimination, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful deduction of wages. Alongside advocacy, he drafted documentation, prepared advice on appeals, and negotiated settlements exceeding £10,000.
As a Referral Order Panellist, Jamie engaged with young offenders to draft referral orders. He gained experience in dealing with young clients, stakeholders in criminal cases and the youth justice system.
