Andrew Robertson QC

Andrew Robertson QC

25 December 2018

It is with enormous sadness that we announce the death earlier today of Andrew Robertson QC. He died peacefully at home.

Fresh out of pupillage, Andrew was granted a tenancy by the late David Savill QC in 1976 and he practised from KBW throughout his career. He succeeded his pupil master Franz Muller QC as Head of Chambers in 2006 and, with his remarkable intelligence (a double first from Cambridge) and steely acumen, steered us beautifully through the next eleven years.

For over 40 years, both lay and professional clients have had reason to be grateful for Andrew’s forensic flare and tenacity, including many cases that caught the attention of the media and the public’s imagination. Having been diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2011, he continued to practise to great effect, even after passing on the mantle of head last year to David Brooke QC.

KBW ran through Andrew’s blood. All here will miss him. His wisdom and care, his no-nonsense approach combined with that dry, somewhat erratic, sense of humour, will never be replaced.

Our heart felt condolences go out to Gill and to their children, Alex, Becky and Josh. Their loss, together with that of all those who loved him and who were loved by him, is immeasurable.
